This was supposed to be posted last Sunday but due to a recurring site problem, I had to perform several re-installation. Anyway, I have finished Running Ninja’s Week 02 Training. Below are the details:

Wk# Day 01 Day 02 Day 03
Wk02 Walk for 5 minutes, then jog for 2 minutes. Repeat 3 times. Walk for 5 minutes, then jog for 2 minutes. Repeat 3 times. Walk for 5 minutes, then jog for 2 minutes. Repeat 3 times.

Day 01 saw no significant improvement compared to last week. However, as the days progress, I guess a minute of improvement is something to be happy about. Basing on Day 03′s result, a sub-45 target for my 5K at Earth Run might seem attainable.

Below are my Daily Mile entries for Week 02.

Day 01 – 2.5km in 26mins
No significant time improvement compared to last week considering that Wk02 requires twice the time to run and lesser walks could only mean: [1] I cut short my running time; [2] I walked/jogged slower. Guilty on both! :D Come on it’s only Day01! Consider this a transition day… Worth noting however is that though my 2nd and 3rd run was short by 15 and 30sec respectively, I managed to run a full 2 minutes on my first set.

Day 02 – 2.5km in 25mins
Motto for the Day: Push Yourself! Should I say drag yourself? I almost didn’t make it but a little adjustment and perseverance did it. I completed all three 2-min runs! I need to do leg exercises..

Day 03 – 2.5km in 24mins
I unintentionally started my daily jogs for W02 late – 6:30am. Thank God that the sun is still not that harsh. I had to cut my last run by 20sec as running intensified my need to go to the restroom for a #1 break. But I did made up for it afterward. Crossing my fingers for W03 – 4min jog and 3min walk?! Might prepare an alternative audio set just in case…

Grabbed my copy of Men’s Health with a free maiden issue of Runner’s World last week. Haven’t really read it yet, but scanned a lot of helpful articles. Congratulations to the staff of Runner’s World Philippines! Shin splint solutions please.. :D

  1. Bro, you might get yourself injured for running to fast too soon! Perhaps you should be targeting getting strong first before running fast? :)

  2. Nope, not really. Believe it or not, I gave myself one year to running fast! My goal was to run longer, so I built more endurance than speed. It works both ways too. The longer you can run, the faster you will run in the shorter distances! Trust me on that! After doing the BDM102k, almost everyone I know who finished made their first PRs during the succeeding short runs that was in town! And I am one of them! So keep on running!

Btw, my Day 4 in 31 Days to Running is already out!

i’m planning to go this route: improve running form, then build endurance, then improve speed. magre-research pa ako ng plan for the last two. nakakainip lang! hahaha!

i never thought running can be so complicated. i remember that when i started, i just wanted to jog to get back to my normal weight. now i wanted more..
