Amazing Thailand 2010

// February 2nd, 2010 // 1 Comment » // Gallery

Visiting Thailand is one of the items in my bucket list. Though I have managed to set foot on it, I couldn’t easily scratch it off. It was just a two day visit and I feel that I have not explored Bangkok enough. The trip, though short, was sweet… and spicy. Haha. I would definitely be back for more.

Our Amazing Race in Thailand

I will be scratching off one item from my bucket list as I have finally managed to visit Thailand. It was a short trip but I can say that we have made the most out of our stay.

There are so many things to write about and so many things to share. I know that I am not obliged to make a thorough documentation but as a sign of gratitude to the numerous articles I have read that have greatly helped make our trip memorable, I decided to make one in return hoping that it will help other Thailand-first-timers.

Ilocos will always hold a special place in my memory. It holds such cultural, natural, structural, and historical beauty that cannot be easily forgotten. That three day trip was more than enough to captivate me but is too short to fully explore the region. This is a place that I would love going back too.

Taal Surprise

// November 7th, 2009 // 2 Comments » // General

Taal BasilicaLast October 17 while we were in Tagaytay, we decided to drive down to Taal since, a friend from the town informed us, it is already near the place. One and a half hour after we left, I was once again reminded not to trust people from the province whenever they say that a certain place is “just near.”

We wanted to see Taal for two thing:

One, to see the Basilica of San Martin de Tours. Standing at 96 meters long and 45 meters wide, the Taal Basilica is dubbed as the largest Catholic church in Asia.

Two, to see the Our Lady of Caysasay – a 27cm image of the Virgin Mary which was fished out of the waters in 1603 and is believed to have performed healing miracles at the Caysasay spring.

We only know of these two attraction that is why we were pleasantly surprised upon arriving at the town to discover that there is quite a good number of old houses that are still standing there. I could say that it is a different breed of Vigan in terms of old structures. The town also reflects a simple and rustic life that made you want to explore it more.

Sadly, since the road from Taal back to Tagaytay is a little treacherous, we decided to head back after more than an hour but we will definitely be going back together with some friends in order to see more of the place.

Check out A Visit to Caysasay album for more photos.

A Visit to Caysasay

We decided to visit Taal, Batangas one cloudy afternoon wanting to see what was tagged as the largest Catholic church in Asia. However, we were also surprised by the simple and rustic feel of the town. We will definitely come back to explore more.
