34th Milo Marathon – Manila Elims

// July 8th, 2010 // 2 Comments » // Running

I’m getting ready, getting ready,
Oh boy what a day it’s gonna be!

The last run I had with my friends was more than two months ago and so I was looking forward running with them on this event. I wasn’t targeting for a PR, I wanted to experience the fun in this run.

Since Milo Marathon is the biggest, longest, and grandest running event in the Philippines; I was expecting a lot from them as far as organization is concerned. Anyway, they have 34 years of experience tucked under their belt. Sadly, I was wrong.

When the gun was shot and the 6AM-runners took off, it is only natural that one starts wishing that slots were made limited. One lane of Roxas Boulevard was not enough to accommodate the reported 20,000 5k participants. However, that might also mean fewer children receiving new shoes. So next time, I’ll happily lower my expectations when it comes to cause-oriented race with unlimited slots.

Litratong Pinoy: Numero

// May 27th, 2010 // 3 Comments » // General, Running

Neutrogena Run 2010: Chase The Sun

// May 17th, 2010 // 2 Comments » // Running

“I like to chase after that elusive lotto luck,
because I want to give all my friends a f…

feast that rocks!”

That entry won me two (2) race packets on the category of my choice at the Neutrogena 2010: Chase The Sun held last Sunday, May 16 at The Fort, Taguig City.

Thanks to The Bull Runner!

I made it a point to arrive early this time so that I can do my warm-up and stretching. The event noticeably had fewer participants compared with Earth Run. In my opinion, that could be the reason why this run is more organized than the latter. I liked it that way.

Aliwan Fiesta 2010

// April 27th, 2010 // 2 Comments » // Gallery

The 2010 Aliwan Fiesta for this year took off behind SM Mall of Asia. Other people might count this as an improvement but I personally think CCP Complex is a better starting point. MOA’s lack of shade made the summer afternoon heat unbearable for everyone. That probably explains why performers are less cheerful this year.

Earth Run 2010

Earth Run 2010 race results were supposed to be released yesterday and so I planned to publish this as my Earth Day post. Sadly, results are still not released up to this moment.

5k Earth Run Race Route

After two 3K events, Earth Run 2010 will be my first 5K in an organized race. This explains my excitement despite the inconvenience I experienced during registration.

I prepared my apparels, went to the grocery to buy some race supplies, and slept early to make it to the 5 o’ clock meeting time with friends. We left Manila around 5:15AM and due to a number of delays (gas station queuing, Makati re-routing, traffic at the intersection of St. Luke’s, and full parking), we arrived late. Found our way to the starting line and made a dash for it without warm-ups and stretching. That and the drills I did Saturday morning gave me a very nice foot cramp and hamstring stiffness. I knew early on that I had to say goodbye to my sub-45 target. It was a bad start.. and yes, we learned our lessons.

Anyway, here are my thoughts on my 5K Earth Run 2010 experience:

Holy Week 2010 Reflection

// April 1st, 2010 // No Comments » // General

Music transcends the boundaries of religion. Whether you’re a Catholic or a Born Again Christian, our hearts desire the same thing – to have an intimate relationship with God. Those who seek Him discovers that the path to discipleship is not all sunshine. We need to place our unquestioning faith in Him. To those who fail, be assured that God has not given up on you yet.

This song included in the album Prayers from the Upper Room by the Cenacle Sisters brings such assurance in my heart. I pray that you’ll also be blessed listening to it.

Pocari Sweat Fun Run Experience

// March 20th, 2010 // No Comments » // Running

March 13, 2010; Jeff and I arrived at The Fort around 5:30AM and the first thing we said was, “May event ba?” This was my second time to join a run, first was Condura, and so I cannot help but compare. We had a little trouble finding the starting line as there was no starting arc that you usually see on race events. Pardonable for a 250PhP registration fee.

I usually drink a glass of water before runs and so it is inevitable to take a pee break. Sadly, there were no portalets! I wasn’t expecting that since the race detail says:

The Race Organizer rented the venue at a cost which is inclusive of toilet/washroom usage within the race vicinity. Rest assured, toilets/washrooms at the Bonifacio Global City will be open for the use & convenience of race participants.

Replenished By Pocari

// March 6th, 2010 // No Comments » // Running

Pocari Sweat’s “Ready, Get Sweat, Go!” on March 13 will be my second 3km race. I think this run is very timely as it will help “replenish” my passion for running. Failing to follow C25K’s Week 01 Training Plan was a real disappointment. I haven’t been running since Tuesday and was content doing some foot exercises. With this fun run to look forward to, I’ll be hitting the road again on Monday and Wednesday.

Condura Run 2010 3K Finisher's Medal

Condura Run 2010 is the first marathon event that I have joined in my entire life. Thanks to Omar for encouraging me to sign-up for this run. Not only was I able to contribute in conserving the dolphins but I also had a great and sweaty time.

The 2009 Aliwan Fiesta served as Litratong Pinoy’s venue for its second official photo opportunity eyeball. The event is presented yearly by the Manila Broadcasting Company where different festival performers all over the country battles against each other as they parade along Roxas Boulevard.
