All Right Now

// July 10th, 2010 // 3 Comments » // General

I have been dealing with health issues for the entire week. I went to the doctor last Monday for an ear infection then I was down with a flu the following day. They could be related or walking under a drizzle last Saturday afternoon then running a 5K come Sunday morning took its toll on me. Thank God I’m all right now! Not yet 100% as I am still having headaches but I had normal temperatures all throughout this day. Yey!

What’s new? I have two. I managed to squeeze them in between my bed rests. One, this blog is now mobile friendly. Go check it out on your mobile phone or portable gaming devices. Two, I started Shuriken Daily at Posterous. I rock!

Exploding Contact Tags

// May 22nd, 2010 // No Comments » // General

Though I am not the type of blogger who goes out regularly for EBs, I felt the need to have my own set of contact cards during last month’s Aliwan Fiesta. This came about because I wanted to have my photos taken with some participants but I thought that it’s troublesome to hand over my camera to other photographers and let them take the photo. It will be more convenient for both parties if they just shoot using their camera and just email the photos to me at their convenience. Thus, I needed a contact card. Who knows, we might end up as good friends as well.

The design was patterned to the exploding tags weapon being thrown out by ninjas on the anime Naruto where concept design for this blog was also lifted.

Earth Run 2010

Earth Run 2010 race results were supposed to be released yesterday and so I planned to publish this as my Earth Day post. Sadly, results are still not released up to this moment.

5k Earth Run Race Route

After two 3K events, Earth Run 2010 will be my first 5K in an organized race. This explains my excitement despite the inconvenience I experienced during registration.

I prepared my apparels, went to the grocery to buy some race supplies, and slept early to make it to the 5 o’ clock meeting time with friends. We left Manila around 5:15AM and due to a number of delays (gas station queuing, Makati re-routing, traffic at the intersection of St. Luke’s, and full parking), we arrived late. Found our way to the starting line and made a dash for it without warm-ups and stretching. That and the drills I did Saturday morning gave me a very nice foot cramp and hamstring stiffness. I knew early on that I had to say goodbye to my sub-45 target. It was a bad start.. and yes, we learned our lessons.

Anyway, here are my thoughts on my 5K Earth Run 2010 experience:

Intramuros Forever Ends Today

// March 28th, 2010 // 1 Comment » // Photography

Intramuros Forever ends today. This is the first photo competition I joined using my DSLR. I rarely join in contests because themes restrict me.

I am a photo hobbyist with no formal training. My composition is always tied up with what I’m feeling and less on technical knowledge. Sad to say, I didn’t quite managed to have a connection with the theme. I had a hard time finding the forever in Intramuros. But it was a good learning experience.

Injured At Kilometer 100

// March 26th, 2010 // 1 Comment » // Running

Last Saturday marks my 100th kilometer. This achievement would have fueled me up to run but I had to take a week off from running because I also encountered shin splints on that very same day.

I was running at 150 steps per minute in an increased stride. As it appears, my legs were not ready for shock. Initially affected was my right leg but then the following day, my left leg also started hurting. Both are better now but I’m still not running just to play it safe. In lieu of this; I engaged myself in floor, bathroom, and rug scrubbing activities.

I am also beginning to believe that my pair of cross-trainers is not doing a very good job. I am planning of taking a gait analysis this Saturday and buy myself a real running shoe. I just hope that there is a good pair available for less than 4000 pesos.

Condura Run 2010 3K Finisher's Medal

Condura Run 2010 is the first marathon event that I have joined in my entire life. Thanks to Omar for encouraging me to sign-up for this run. Not only was I able to contribute in conserving the dolphins but I also had a great and sweaty time.
