More about the race…
Nature Valley Run is the second leg of the Runrio Trilogy for this year. I decided to participate in this event though the registration fee is a bit pricey. But considering the cause of this event where a tree will be planted for every runner, PhP600 for the 5K category seems reasonable.
Nature Valley will nurture the seedlings through fertilizer application, cultivation and weeding. And since the area where this will occur is protected by the DENR these seedlings will flourish to aid in developing a thriving forest in the area covered. The area where the project is situated is at Sitio Ipo, Barangay San Mateo, Bulacan. It is 45 kilometers from Quezon City circle and just over an hour away from Metro Manila.
A 5-YEAR tree planting and forest maintenance program will be undertaken by Nature Valley in cooperation with the DENR. The Nature Valley Run’s One Runner = One Tree pledge will mean not only planting the tree seedlings but also ensuring these are properly cared for, monitored and efficiently maintained for 5 years.
This is a small step towards revitalizing nature but we must all do our part.
